This week’s Rune is Ehwaz, the rune of movement, often seen as the horse and their rider. Ehwaz is a rune of communication, that intuitive unspoken communication that happens almost telepathically between two beings that are mentally, emotionally and spiritually close.
It speaks of equal partnerships, collaborations formed by mutual respect, understanding and common ground. The effortless flow that comes from open, honest communication and reciprocity.
If your partnerships, working, familial, intimate or friendships, are not equal, eye to eye, mutual, reciprocal, we are being asked to reassess their value and worth. These relationships and partnership do not just pertain to our human ones, but also to our human relationships with nature, to our fellow creature beings, plant, rocks, planet and solar system.
I always see this rune as two people walking hand in hand, communal support, the free flow of energy from one to the other and back again. Or two horses heads, nose to nose. This Rune is offering us the opportunity to move forward, from our place of stuckness, by mutual reciprocity, and community spirit. Shifting out of this paradigm of “dog eat dog”, “every man for himself” that we’ve been encouraged to create by those that profit from greed.
And in return all that is asked of us is to share.
