The Ace of Bows, fire, the spark of new life, new beginnings and rebirth couldn’t be more inline with Beltane. The imagery on this card has always reminded me of the rune Nauthaz, the need rune. So, I more than just chuckled when that was the rune I pulled to cover this card.
With this as the central theme, we are being shown that there is a need to start afresh, put out the old fires, clear the grate, purify the hearth, wipe the slate clean. Reset, renew, rebirth. The need rune often tells us that there is a shift in perception needed to get things moving, to clear the blockage. When no solution can be found and things have gotten unbearably bad, the tradition was that the community would put out all of the fires, clear the grates and start a new community fire from friction. This bringing into being through friction is important, the whole community working together to bring new energy in through their joint effort. We are being asked to come together, to work together to make the necessary changes.
The second card I pulled was the 8 of bows, the Hearthfire, the community fire. The imagery shows the community celebrating their success. Often the 8 of Bows, more commonly known as Wands, does auger success. It ushers in a time of expansion, rapid movement and speedy outcomes. Desires being met. So with this reset from the need fire, change happens rapidly. This change is community led. Covered by the rune Ansuz, the word. This is language in all it’s forms, written, spoken and thought. It warns us to be clear in our words, and to ask for clarity if we think we have misheard or don’t quite understand what was said. Speak up, speak out. Dot your “i”s and cross your “t”s, read the small print. Be clear in contracts and agreements. The word “charter” was given to me, especially linked to the hearthfire of the community. It is time we the people lead the change.
The 6 of vessels is offering us the chance to rekindle something, something that we had previously thought impossible. Hopes lost but now renewed. Remember, remember, remember. We used to be a part of nature, not separate from it. We have a chance to remember how. How to share, how to live together in abundance. True abundance is flowing in. It cannot be hoarded, stored, secreted away, enough for the few but not the many, that is not natures way. Nature provides enough for all with plenty to spare.
This is the future we are being offered, if only we dare.
